"The Promise of Summer"

A team of youth from all over the City of Chicago, with lead artist/designer Patricia M. Murphy and assistant artist Margaret Jo Feldman,completed a two-part progressive Venetian glass mosaic mural entitled "The Promise of Summer", which begins at Madden Park, which is located near the south side Ida B. Wells housing development, and continues at Seward Park, which is located near the north side Cabrini Green housing development. The two murals total 210 square feet. The piece was dedicated during the summer of 2005.

This handmade ceramic title mural, composed of many panels, totaling 300 square feet, was designed and created by Patricia Murphy, with assistance from artists G. Lang, J. Solves, and G. Sykes, with 24 apprentice artists from Lakeview High School. It was installed and dedicated in the fall of 2005 at Lakeview High School. The piece was dedicated to the alumni of the school, aswell as Rita McGuire Turner Carson, and her daughter Debbie Turner.

"The Medicine Wheel Mosaics"

Dedicated on December 14th, 2005, at Brenneman Elementary School in the Uptown neighborhood, this project was constructed by over 25 students at the school, ranging from second to fifth grade. It is composed of four panels, each representing a different color of the Medicine Wheel and relative American culture. Each panel is 32 square feet. The concept of the piece was concieved by Patricia M. Murphy and was designed by Ben Seamons. The project was part of our afterschool program, a 21st Century Learning Center at the school. This project represents cultural diversity in a vibrant and cheerful way that enlivens the atmosphere at the school.
